We talk a lot about goals and intentions in our Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy groups. The reality is that your psychedelic therapy experience starts the moment you begin to explore the possibility. You will start to ask yourself deep questions and search for expansive meaning. You will begin to examine your life and evaluate your longings. It is through this work that you will begin to uncover your goals and intentions for group. Some examples of goals and intentions from past groups are: uncover the root of my anxiety, lift my depression, become more conscious and self-aware, learn to interact with the people that I love from a place of being more centered, heal parts of self, engage with my inner child, quiet my inner critic, access the ability to do the things that I want to do that I am not currently doing, experience love for self and others, experience joy. These are just a few examples. Once a client has set their goals and intentions for Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy group, I ask them to hold them loosely. This might seem counterintuitive—asking clients to do the digging to uncover the goals and then asking them to be flexible and open with how they connect their goals to the outcomes. The experience of a dosing session can be more abstract, and it is important to trust the process. I ask clients to honor what emerges through a commitment to integrate. And it is in the integration process where clients connect the work to their goals and intentions. It is absolutely one of my favorite parts of this work. I love watching a client realize how their inner healer has connected them to their goals and intentions in unimaginable ways.
