I have had the privilege of witnessing so many powerful moments in the preparation, dosing, and integration of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. And I could spend hours talking about them in great detail, but for the sake of time, I’ll try and list some of them as general concepts. And maybe over the course of this blog, I can deep-dive into some very specific examples of each. For now, here are some of the profound gifts of KAP:
•Lifts constraints imposed by one’s ego, identity/identifications, and culture/belief systems
•Allows more vulnerable parts of the personality to emerge while relaxing defenses
•Deepens interpersonal connections – (increasing capacity for understanding, empathy, forgiveness, compassion, and generous perspectives on of past actions, beliefs, and intentions)
•Allows us to face suffering (our own, others’, the world’s) and change our relationship to it
•Transports consciousness to a mystical realm where new perspectives are revealed
•Helps enforce determination and resolve and remove unnecessary doubts
•Decreases self-consciousness; one is less vulnerable to others’ judgments and influences
•Helps access suppressed and dissociated memories that have been haunting clients and provides psychological resourcing for processing
•Supports self-empowerment necessary to make changes that lead to more successful
endeavors, as well as a more fulfilling life and relationships.
